So as a precursor to this post, be advised that I do not believe in ghosts. This is just one of those things I feel that I must clarify. Yes, in fact, I can be irrational at times and get scared during horror movies. I don't watch them. Every once in a while, I do feel compelled to read a scary book - obviously it is usually around this time of year. Halloween is on its spooky way, after all. And what says fall like a little scary story? I guess that comes after all those years of scary shows and stories and such...your typical American childhood and Halloween must inspire this sort of nonsense.
But all that told, I really don't buy this ghost hunter garbage. Have you ever watched these shows? Like Paranormal something or other, Ghost Hunters, a Haunting? Please. They claim to hear voices and noises and claim to have captured said hijinks on camera. But I never ever hear what they hear...even when they replay enhanced video or audio. Never. They even point out where the ghost is being captured on camera. Some fuzzy image...maybe...shows up. And I think to myself it's a shadow. Please. Or they "enhance" the voice on some audio recording and suddenly fuzzzzzzzz sounds like, "I killed the girl." Paaaahlease, people. How do I know you aren't messing with the recording or actually saying those things off camera? Or that your crew members aren't slamming doors down halls?
The point is, the alleged "evidence" isn't all the conclusive or concrete, and those shows are for teenage girls, anyway. Those gullible teenage girls who like to be a little scared. Besides, who wouldn't be creeped out whilst spending the night in an old, abandoned hospital, where...and here is the shocker...deaths took place - GASP!!! Can you believe that people died in a hospital of all places? Unheard of, you might say. Yes, spending the night in the creepy old hospital would probably scare me, too. Ghosts or not. Because that is how those irrational thoughts that I already admitted to having sometimes start coming up. Pretty sure I won't be pulling out the sleeping bag and bedding down in old abandoned locations any time soon.
Still, I find myself watching these ridiculous shows because they make me laugh. I especially enjoy watching them with niece Megan when she comes over. Her laugh is contagious, and so we laugh and laugh together. What else can you do with such ridiculousness but laugh?
